Our Partners

The Alliance seeks partnerships from organizations that want to support Family Childcare and recognizes childcare as a valuable component to the early care and education of young children. Our partnerships are created with an emphasis on enhancing the practices of family child care homes, to provide them with professional business technology, child development, health, safety and nutrition training. The assistance created through our partnered programs provides an overall balance of networking, support and OCCL accredited workshops provided for all providers whether they are members or not.

Special thanks to all our partners who make it possible for our members to benefit both professionally and financially.

Community Day Nursery

Phone: (302) 652 - 0129

The Community Day Nursery, formed in the 1950's, is a mission of the Community Presbyterian Church.  The nursery serves families that would not ordinarily be able to afford day care for their children. At its inception, the nursery served many of the families that were members of the Community Presbyterian Church and others who resided in or around the Dunleith Community, where the church is located.

The nursery has the reputation of sending students to first grade with one of the highest levels of preparedness in the county. In years past, the vast majority of the students leaving the nursery and going to first grade performed at higher achievement levels in the regular school academic programs. The nursery, albeit a mission of the church, is non-secular and has a high degree of autonomy in serving the needs of parents and students. The nursery staff and director report directly to a separate board of directors and not to the church staff or administration. There is a high degree of support by the Presbytery and the Community Presbyterian Church congregation for the programs and activities of the nursery.

The Presbyterian Church supported the formation of the Delaware Family Childcare Alliance by funding its start up though the Speer Trust, a Presbyterian Foundation. Community Day Nursery is an ally and a member of the Alliance.
