Our goal...

Child care is our passion and our business. We elect to be in the business of nurturing and caring for children because we love what we do. There are over 1,300 registered family child care homes throughout Delaware; together we care for thousands Delaware's children. Despite our great number and the importance of our work in the lives of so many young Delawareans, we have no existing network, no organization to represent us as whole, to advocate for our needs and concerns, or to provide community within our industry. Our goals are to create a unified voice for family child care in Delaware; to prove the economic impact of our work to the State; to advocate for a seat at the table in all policy discussions related to our industry; to partner with the State to improve Purchase of Care and secure health benefits coverage for uninsured providers; and to be recognized and treated as professionals.

A small leadership team of providers has been working with the administrative support of the Nehemiah Gateway Community Development Corporation to spread the word about the Alliance to family child care providers throughout the State.
